Water in Adelanto
Why AWJC?
Members of the Adelanto community have expressed concerns over the quality of their tap water, reporting that water appears discolored and smells or tastes odd. Not only do residents find the quality of water untrustworthy, but they are also concerned with the lack of communication from the City’s Water and Sewer Department and PERC Water Corporation regarding water quality and safety. Between these confusing lines of communication and visible abnormalities of Adelanto’s tap water, residents commonly avoid drinking water from their tap, and, those who can afford it, opt for purchasing bottled water. Water-related issues are impacting the health and livelihood of certain communities in disproportionate ways, heightening concerns of the presence of water injustice.

This website hosts the 2022 Adelanto Community Water Report, a report combining scientific research, interviews with Adelanto residents, and ethnographic data collection to detail the quality of water and quality of life in Adelanto. You will also find summaries and key terms to more easily navigate this extensive report. Under Resources, we will also link a page for Adelanto residents to self-report water concerns as an effort to develop a community-based water monitoring system.
